War Museum
Located at Fort St. Elmo in Valletta, Malta, the War Museum is a collection and exhibition of wartime supplies from the first and Second World Wars. The museum is one of the Republic's most historic museums and one of Valletta's most popular tourist attractions. In the Second World War, when German and Italian fascists tried to occupy strategically important Malta, the Maltese people rose up, today the war museum houses monuments to the heroes of the Revolution and the George Cross George Cross given to the Maltese people by King George VI in 1942. The War Museum has a comprehensive collection of weapons and historical materials used during the Second World War, there are a number of photographs and exhibits of the Maltese Air War: a model shows Maltese residents living in bomb shelters at the time.
